Guided tour of Grenoble’s fortress with the
téléférique
The ancient fortifications of the
Bastille, at the foot of the Chartreuse massif, tower over the Grenoble
area. This is
now one of Grenoble's top tourist
attractions, offering breathtaking all-round views of the city and the
surrounding mountains.Since 1934, the
Bastille site has been linked to the city by what at the time was
Europe's
first cable-car in a town centre. The
short breathtaking ride in the "Eggs" sweeps visitors up to the viewing
platforms, discovery trails around
the fortifications, recreation areas, café, restaurant,
footpaths and fitness
circuits..

You will be charmed while traversing
2000 years of history through the pedestrian way in the heart of
Grenoble,
old capital of Dauphiné;
discover its Roman rampart, its private hotels, its Gothic interior
playgrounds…

Thursday afternoon:
The castle of Sassenage.
Remarkable residence of the XVII° century was the place of
residence of Béranger-Sassenage. A sober
architecture, from Louis XIII’s style, with one of the most beautiful
main staircases of the XVII° century in
Dauphiné.
Visit-walk in the old center of Sassenage.
The town of Sassenage testifies to a rich and glorious past thanks to
the marquis of Béranger-Sassenage, whose
ancestors settled here as of the High Age Means and rebuilt the castle
in 1666.
The old city has preserved its charm of the past. The old houses with
the white stones, the narrow lanes, the castle
and the Roman church invite you to a pleasant walk through the
centuries.
